Home Sweet Home 🏡

Ahhh! I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I’ve posted anything. Honestly, it has been INSANE. I don’t even know where to start.

Purchasing my first home is something I always dreamt about. Everyone does right? Throughout the years my friends and family have all purchased their first homes and I always felt behind in relation to where they were in life. Married… with a house… and child(ren). Here I was… me, my dog and a (fairly) new boyfriend, downtown in an apartment just reliving my early twenties. But I loved that life and I’m so glad I got to experience it. Living in one of the nicest condos in the heart of your hometown is something not a lot of people can say they’ve done. Being able to walk to work every day, skipping the Uber and walking a few blocks to one of our favorite bars on Friday night or stepping outside and having literally 20 or 30 restaurant options to choose from… I mean really?! Who wouldn’t want to put the adulting on hold for a while to take advantage of it?

And take advantage we did.

Purchasing your first home is an incredible feeling on its own… but purchasing a home for the first time with your biggest supporter, best friend, shoulder to cry on, ear to vent to, and overall greatest blessing, is a special kind of feeling.

Paul being on the road 40 weeks a year is definitely hard to say the least, but we make it work. When we both walked through the front door of our new home, I think it was the first time it all made sense. This home is perfect for us. Everything we wanted, every box checked, and it’s OURS. I really can’t believe it.

Over the past 3 weeks, Paul and I have been busy cleaning, painting, packing and unpacking. We’ve made more trips to home depot than we care to admit and have hosted a series of “come see our new house” dinners for our close friends and family. There are a few projects we are excited to start on, like refinishing the hard woods on the stairs, and putting together the guest bedroom. We also have all kinds of plans for the backyard and of course the garage/workshop. Praise the Lord that we took those first few weeks off from work. It really has allowed us to settle into our new home and fall in love with it together.

It’s still so unreal to me. The house is absolutely beautiful and it instantly felt like “home”. I think what I still cannot wrap my head around is how we got so lucky, but I promise to never take it for granted.
