Usually I look forward to the start of a new year. The chance to be better than I was the year before. An opportunity to create new goals.
A new beginning.
But this year is different.
As I close out 2018, it feels as though I’m reading the last page of my favorite book. A book I was completely immersed in and couldn’t put down. One I had no idea would mean so much to me.
Creating and keeping up with this blog has allowed me to not only experience this year but to write it’s story. Now I’m able to read and re-read it for years to come.
This past year, I decided to take some time off from school and I started seeing a therapist to further my personal growth. The things I learned about myself have completely transformed my life. I’ve always been really in tune with my mind and my body, but after speaking to a licensed psychologist I’ve really strengthened that connection and am stronger than I’ve ever been. Therapy is something I don’t think I’ll ever stop doing. It’s like having your own personal life coach to help you be the very best version of yourself.
Often times, I find myself being overly critical. I set so many goals for myself and bend over backwards, killing myself trying to make them all happen. But for me, 2018 was a year of adventure. A year to build relationships and make memories.
And that’s exactly what I did.
This year we attended quite a few concerts & shows. We saw Kenny Chesney (and he surprised us with a private show at the tailgate), G-Eazy/Lil Uzi/Ty Dolla $ign (where Halsey showed up to preform her new song), Kevin Hart (which was freakin hilarious!) and of course my queen, Demi Lovato (you already know, she changed my life). We also saw the Rockettes when we were in NY this year and of course I cried 3 times.
It wasn’t just a year for fun. Paul and I accomplish a few personal goals this year as well. We both got our AIF (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) designations, and I landed the job I had been striving for the past 5 years.
Paul and I went to our first Ray’s game together, we did a hard core obstacle course (Tree Umph), Paul took me golfing for the first time and I finally experienced the famous Berns Steakhouse. YUM!
It’s hard to believe how many trips we took this year. We went to Daytona for the Rolex 24, Champions Gate in Orlando for the twins B-Day, and Gaylord Palms in Orlando for my B-Day. We took a 5 day cruise through Nassau, Grand Turk & Half Moon Cay. We explored Boston, New Jersey and New York City.
This year was incredible. But to top it all off… Paul and I bought our first home together and we got engaged! ♥
We are so incredibly blessed and are surrounded by the most amazing people. I’m not sure 2019 will ever top this year, but you know me… I’m going to try my best.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
