It’s been a while to say the least. Looking back, I really don’t remember the last time I blogged. It’s overwhelming to think about everything that’s happened since my last post and I really don’t have a clue on where to start.
How about I give a quick (semi-quick) rundown on all the important stuff?
Ok here we go…
I’m not sure if I mentioned this but in November, I accepted a new position at the firm I work for… an AMAZING position and possibly the last corporate position I will hold until I get my business off the ground… which brings me to my next update.
I STARTED A BUSINESS!!!!
YESS!!!! I can finally say I am the proud owner of an online amazon store and have already sold over 150 units!
It’s absolutely crazy to think how I am starting to fulfill my ultimate dream of having my own online boutique. Eeeekkkk!
Ok next update… I bought my wedding dress and you will totally see an entire post on it after I unlock it (after the wedding obvi). However, I found it at my second appointment and was overwhelmed with emotion after I saw it on. It is STUNNING to say the very least and I just instantly knew it was the one. Tears on tears on tears.
Speaking of the wedding, Paul and I have pretty much planned the entire thing already! We just had our cake tasting and I think we landed on a baker and a flavor for the cake!
Also wedding related, I had my hair and makeup trial! Now, I did like how it turned out when I was in the studio, but when after I left and saw it in the natural light, I felt the makeup was very cakey and patchy and the eyes looked very drag-queen-esque. I ended up redoing the entire thing and now I don’t know what direction to go in… more to come on the hair and makeup I’m sure.
We also just had our THIRD “engagement” session (don’t judge me) and we finally picked out a photo for our save the dates! After we mail them I will for sure update this post with a photo of them!
The first engagement session was the one we did on the Brooklyn bridge. My cousin Nikki took them and they are GORGEOUS! The photos remind me of my favorite place and my favorite person.
The second session wasn’t really an engagement shoot but a session I felt was absolutely needed. We hired a woman who specializes in intimate “sentimental” photography. She was brilliant and captured Paul and I at our new house, in the raw. It was incredible to have her in our home, following us around as we did our Sunday morning routine. The pictures speak for themselves and really show the love Paul and I have for each other.
The last session was more of a formal engagement photoshoot. This was a complimentary session our photographers booked for us and honestly, although we have some decent pictures, the photos lacked creativity, quality and a sort of ‘specialness’ I was looking for… So unfortunately, we fired them and at the very top of our ever-growing budget for photo and video, we hired the photographers I have been dreaming of for a very long time. We cannot be more excited.
Let’s see, what else…. Paul and I took a quick trip to Vegas a few months ago. I might end up making a blog post entirely on “how to make the most of a long weekend in Vegas” or maybe just a Trip Recap style post. The trip itself was a blast and we made some memories I will never forget.
Last week Paul and I celebrated one year being homeowners. CRAZY!!! Where did the time go??? To celebrate the occasion, we took a quick weekend trip to Orlando and stayed at the JW and then we took a few more days off and had a relaxing stay-cation. We cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner almost every day and did a few home projects like painting the second bathroom and turning the second bedroom into my very own yoga / zen space…. Oh yea, I STARTED DOING YOGA!
Jeeze, there really is alot to update!!
So about two months ago, I joined a fitness studio called SPENGA. It combines three essential elements of fitness to create what is simply known as the best workout ever. For the first 20 minutes, you start your workout with a heart-pumping cardiovascular spin workout. Then the following 20 minutes is spent on a circuit-style HIIT strength training session focusing on building strength and lean muscle. Then for your final push… the last 20 minutes (this part is my favorite) is spent focusing on strength, flexibility and recovery. YOGA!
Joining SPENGA was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Discovering yoga has been incredible and I am soooo excited to see where the journey takes me. Might do a yoga progress/update section on this blog. Keep an eye out.
Summer semester has been INSANE. I’ve been taking 3 classes, one of which is a literature class called “Cultural Studies and Pop Arts”. Basically the class reads all 7 Harry Potter books in a little over 2 months… THANK GOD FOR AUDIBLE! I literally have ZERO time to read right now… even if it is one of the greatest pieces of fictional literature the world has ever seen. Anyway… Dumbledore just died and I am onto the last book, “The Deathly Hallows”.
What else, what else. Oh yea! We took another short trip to Houston to attend Paul’s parent annual conference for their business. We both learned so much about the franchise and it totally motivated us for the future. #goals
I really can’t think of anything else to say other than, I am so sorry I’ve been so MIA. The truth is… I have been overwhelmed in the best way possible. Learning my new job, starting a business, studying and maintaining straight A’s in all 3 of my classes, planning the perfect wedding, working on the house, trying to get fit and healthy, AND trying to maintain relationships with my friends, family and my sweet fiancé… it’s been a little much. But truthfully, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Talk to you all soon!
